Some of my financial accounts are still under my own name (e.g. checking, saving, investment). To handle those accounts while I am away, what should my husband need? joined account or a power of attorney? pros and cons for each method?

I would go with power of attorney. Once you add someone as a joint owner, you can't take them off unless they die or you get divorced.

Power of attorney is a very powerful document. I suggest you open a new joint account and you transfer funds in there for husband to service your affairs while you are away..

My Husband and I have seperate accounts. You need to get a power of attorney which you can do yourself with Attorney PC, you can fill in the date it starts and also the date it ends. Have it notorized and your done. Attorney PC only cost 19.99 and you can get it at office max. Or if you have a Fry's Electroincs they have it also. Very easy to do.
Hope this helps

Power of attorney- notarized and you may need to inform the banking institution that your husband will be handling these accounts as well to make it easier for him. A power of attorney can be revoked when you return. just be sure to inform the bank personally of the revocation-

You married him, so you must trust him. Depending on how much authority he needs he will probably need both. Remember a power or attorney will give him absolute power, just as if you approved and signed it.

POA is far too dangerous, costs money to get one as well.

You dont need a joint account, just put your husband on your account so that he has the authority to sign cheques etc....you could always use online internet banking...then you could do any transfer that is needed.
