Absolutely. Among the numerous ways that Cell phones do this is that they are marketed to children and children's parents using the follwoing logic, "you care about your children, so get them a cell phone." That was a paraphrase, but you get the idea. The cell phone companies are using children's saftey to get their parents to buy them something, EXPLOITATION. Also, look teenagers. Cell phones are now marketing instant messaging. Teenagers see no problem in using these while talking to someone else, a practice that a lot of people find rude. I recently was in the room when a professor was trying to talk to a freshman and said, "I'll wait until your done doing that (using IM)" to which the student replied, "it's okay, talk." This was a discussion about a research project, guess who wasn't invited back?
Cell phone companies are marketing this instant communication to the youth, that you always have to be in contact.

Do your homework, express your feelings and your own ideas about this subject, develop your personality and put it on a piece of paper... Then compare with other people. Where are we going with this new generation? They want everything easy, everything now, they want mobile phones...

Of course they are. I've read that they test market these things in Asian countries especially to very young girls. If these young girls buy them, they get marketed all over the world.
