Lake Baikal in Siberia has the biggest VOLUME of any freshwater lake in the world, mainly because it is so deep; Lake Superior has the biggest AREA; and Lake Tanganyika in Africa has the greatest LENGTH, 420 miles compared to 395 for Baikal and 383 for Superior.

If saltwater lakes are allowed, the Caspian Sea beats everything else.

No, i am right, It's lake superior! I'm cleverer than i thought. Thank God for geography quizes. The lake stretches approximately 350 miles from west to east, and 160 miles north to south, with a shoreline almost 2800 miles long (I looked that bit up!)

A lake is generally defined as a body of water surrounded by land. By this definition some bodies of water that are called seas such as the caspian sea and the aral sea are really lakes.
caspian is salt...but still a lake
largest by volume: caspian sea: 143,244 sq. miles
length 760 miles,

after that superior,
victoria
huron
michigan
aral

nope, might consider checking an atlas before you ask anyone though. i know this is easier but you learn crap from asking people on the internet. you'll have to find out where to find things otherwise one day, coz people might sometimes give wrong anwsers and then where are you? know what i mean? god i sound like my teachers, but i guess they have a point though!
