Celine Dion is from Quebec, as you probably know...
I am too, she's our national pride so everyone here knows a *lot* of stuff about her... So I'll try to do this short and sweet and only state the facts that most non-quebecers don't know:
She was born in Charlemagne, Quebec (march 30th, 1968 -14th kid of the family.. her mom had post-partum depression after her birth)
Her idol is Ginette Reno, one of Canada's most famous French-speaking singers/actresses.
Sang for the pope in '84 was she was only sixteen.
Fell in love w/ her husband René Angelil when she was only 17. (they didn't get together right away b/c she was underage and he was married)
Recently recorded a duet entitled "Tout près du bonheur ("so close to happiness"), with her son-in-law Marc Dupré (they're around the same age). She later said in an interview that it was weird to play his lover in the video...
She currently owns a gigantic house on a private island near Montreal.
The only song in French that she sings in her Las Vegas show is "Je t'aime encore" ("I still love you)
She created a chain of restaurants in Quebec called Nickel's.
She and husband René own a golf resort in Quebec called Le Mirage.
