A cheeta is faster over a short distance, but a gazelle can run faster over a long distance. Cheetas are natural sprinters, and can do over 50 mph.

a cheetah can run at speeds up to 110mph in long strides, but only for a short time. a gazelle runs slower, but for longer periods of time, it avoids cheetahs by out-maneuvering them.
