Last week I dropped my laptop and murdered (actually, it was involuntary manslaughter) my hardrive. I lost everything, including music I had downloaded from Napster. I'm not a subscriber, but they do have all my info, does that mean I have to buy my music over again?

Ah.....a new believer in making back-ups eh?

And yes, you will have to pay for your replacements.

It is the SAME thing as when your parents or grandparents bought music on 45 or 33 RPM records. If their prized Beatles or Stones collection got lost or stolen, they too had to buy the collection all over again.

Just because you get your music via the internet, Napster, and I-Tunes, doesn't mean replacing it makes it free.
