Brainwashing cults or parental intervention. Remember Santa Claus? Parents pulling a fantasy fast-one. REALLY....the bible is taken from scholars (writers) who have their own opinions. There are umpteen other "prophets" from the same era that had their own teachings too, media wasnt born then. WHY did Jesus pass into bigtime while others didnt? WHO knows.......same as why some liked the Beatles, Elvis, Conan O' Brien, Dr Phil or Oprah?
The religious peoples chose to settle on one prophet maybe because he spoke better than the others, was picked on so much because of that and crucified or not? As TV wasnt invented then...I assume it was because the people had him "up there" infamous or famous..like Bin Laden come Mother Theresa....he had a few words to spread about being good..he did study Buddhism for a while during his missing years...but as many presenters today...doesnt make them a god either though.
I guess it was just where they were at the time. Lack of any real global impact but all prophets wanting to be journalists/weather reporters or soothsayers. Jesus did after-all bum poor Judah out by saying "out me, out me".........and when he did...gave him the bums rush...what the hell was that all about?
Jesus was a a goodly teacher/presenter. Prophets were a dime a dozen at that time. people wanted an Elvis figure and got it bar the music of course because they didnt know how to rock in those days.
If you can convince someone that Elvis is alive and still rocking....you may have a chance that they will believe that God exists. Reading the story after the fact doesnt usually help. So, why dont you ask God to make a real-time, DNA established factor, big-time vist to his country of birth....and then reading old stories wont matter anymore because we will have the real thing?
The Bible is a highly and hugely edited version of the truth.....and if anything has ever been edited and not written by the bloke who actually did the deed....how COULD you trust it? Chinese whispers...do you trust them too?

if you want a decent answer to that, i suggest you DON'T put it in a science area. As you might have noticed most people on here are not believers (neither am i). but as for your question, you cant convince any one to believe in anything when there is NO proof. I have read the bible, Koran and just about every other religious text and the only think they have convinced me of is that god is a small child who was given a "create your own universe kit" and really messed it up

You see, Religion can be viewed from a different perspective. There are two kinds of people as far as God is concerened. there is the evolutionist and there is the creationist. the evolutionist tends to look at the world in a scientific point of view where in the Earth was just one random event that took place millions of years. we can call this entropy. And there are people that tends to see the world as a gift from GOd who create the World in just seven days.
Try to contact both parties concerned. maybe it can also change your view about whot believe.
But if you really would like to convince your "someone" try asking help from a priest. That is one way of dealing with that kind of problem.

Some people just won't believe in something that can't be proven, If you really want to convince someone that there is a god the only guarenteed way to do it is to fool them into thinking that they saw an act of god, which would prove there is a god, unfortunatley the better educated someone is the harder it is to trick them. good luck.

the bible is a load of rubbish it contradicts itself all the way through as every one else says seeing is believing I'm not willing to put my faith in something i cant see. who's to say that so called Jesus wasn't a nutter who claimed he spoke to some one from above as for Mary she cheated on Joesph and made up some story to make it look good
a book i once read says that religion is an excuse for the unexplainable and i agree its like a cult a very popular one
i have nothing against religious people if that's what helps them live Good life then whats wrong with that every one has rules they live by and that's there rules good for them but there's to much bad things going on in this country for me to believe there's someone watching over us

The 12 step program of AA or NA, step 3 is:Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of GOD as we understood him, meaning we make or choose OUR OWN GOD,to help with faith in ourselves and the world around us. which usually inturn, opens ones mind to other possible GODS, which then means that one doesnt disbelieve in any GOD, do you get my drift, simple but very effective. And you dont have to be an addict or an alcoholic for the program to work, you can apply it to anyone and any part of your life.. its the best choice i ever made. And im not religious.

Reading the bible only convinced me that if the christian god did exist, he's a monster. This may not be the result you're looking for.

It doesn't take a bible to convince a person that there is a God.
There are so many questions, that can make a person know that there is God.
