That is a company whose ship has sailed.....a long time ago. Gone are the days where you could find people who had families and were willing to fill their house with products that they purchased from their own "store". Because of Amway's cult-like business plan, most people run as fast as they can from it. The large incomes were made a very long time ago.
When searching for a home business, you have to consider your product. Is it something that gets you and other people excited? Is the company debt-free and growing at a rapid rate?
Has the company already experienced the hyper-growth or momentum stage? All very important things to consider.
There are newer companies out there that have eliminated all of the usual obstacles associated with MLM. Your main focus needs to be the baby boomers, which is what Amway cashed in on in the 70's and 80's.
What the boomers are looking for now is health and anti-aging. I have a home business that markets only one product but that product is in huge demand world wide now. Most of the boomers children have moved away now and they no longer want to fill their houses with these products. They have their own preferences now and can get their products at far more competitive rates. Most of them are indeed open to another stream of income, but they don't want to be booking home parties and driving their friends and family nuts with gizmos and gadgets.
I offer them a product that has medical validation and is helping them with a huge variety of auto-immune deficiencies as well as prevention of disease. It's catching on very quickly because of the many benefits it provides, and there is now an 11 year window of opportunity for this product. Not only is it effective for the boomers, who have the most ailments, but it is excellent for anyone and everyone for prevention of disease, including pregnant women and babies. Athletes are blown away by how this product is decreasing their recovery time as well as giving them the stamina they need.
This is definately the business for today's world.

I have been involved with several network marketing opportunities, including Amway/Quixtar, over my years. I even remember my old Amway/Quixtar Distributor #. I have sold water filters, soap, and legal plans. It is the perception of having to sell something to my friends that they don't want or don't need is one of the things that made it difficult.
The issue with Quixtar is that a most of their products can be purchased elsewhere in some other form. So, you have a lot of competition already when you get started.
It is when you can find a company that has the "best" of something and is offering it "cheap," or, if the company has the "only" of something, when you have found an opportunity.
ANOTHER ISSUE:
If a person can't come out and say exactly what it is that they are selling, then they are being deceptive and are having to coerce somebody into making a decision.
With my home-based business, I give samples out and let people try them. When they like it, they ask me how to get more. Up front, they know exactly what it is that they are trying.
BUSINESS STARTUP COSTS & MONTHLY MINIMUMS:
When I was a distributor, Quixtar required you to pay a hundred dollars or more just to get started. Then there are other fees and requirements that you have that you didn't know about in the beginning.
Quixtar required a hundred dollars or more per month in purchasing their products to remain qualified to receive a commission.
These shouldn't have to be. If a company can't set the system up to be free to start, then they are having to recoup some of their costs from potential distributors and not their products. The monthly minimum should be just that; minimum.
WRAP UP:
You asked your question, you got your answer. There is nothing to say that any one person can't make a lot of money in Quixtar. It just has to be the right opportunity and it has to fit the majority of the people.
I am having very little problem in having people join my business opportunity. Granted, there are people that will say "no" to everything. Here are the benefits of what I offer:
NO Fees to Participate - Why should you pay a distributor fee to sell for any company? Never pay a distributor fee to join a company ever again!
Powerful Products - UNIQUE cutting edge exclusive products that work fast! Everything designed in-house by world renowned scientists and doctors!
Results Sell - Day one you'll feel it, day two you'll love it and day three you'll be telling your friends.
Manufacturer Direct - Unlike 99% of most so-called "opportunities" who have their products made by someone else and pass high costs on to distributors, this company is the manufacturer direct, and there are no middle sales or multi-level companies.
Solid Company - A 12 year old manufacturer that has the capability of shipping over $10 million dollars worth of product a day.
Free Samples to Dealers - They will continually be giving out Free Samples for Dealers to Hand Out. Most companies simply can't afford to do this, but they make the products and understand the importance of getting people to try the product.
Low Cost - A two months supply for as little as $59. No more trying to sell your friends on buying $200 or $300 of product that they don't need.
Pays Out Checks Daily - They understand the importance of getting dealers money quick.
If an opportunity can't match this, then you have to really force yourself to become a part of that opportunity.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

It is Amway.
While I am not involved, someone I know is. They have spent thousands of dollars in the past few years and have not made any money.
The bottom line is that it is a great way to flush your money down the toilet. There is also a bonus.......your friends and relatives start avoiding you like the plague.
