One word. WORK. Busy yourself on what you have to do. Don't get sidetracked. Concentrate on your work. If you don't take care of this now, who knows when you will be able to tackle it? I also have the same problem as you, and you should just concentrate on your work.

Oh... if it isnt that serious, occasional breaks are alright. ^_^ Yea, you're not a robot. Enjoy life.

I agree that you need to take breaks from working. There's nothing wrong with wanting to relax and have fun IF you are disciplined enough to set guidelines. Either set small goals which when met you can reward yourself OR set a specific amount of time to work. Hint, don't make your goals too small...such as rewarding yourself with an hour of two of play for creating a title page with your name, school name, and date. The most important thing is to do a little bit each day. I think it is normal that some days would be overall more productive than others. But you can't just wait for the feeling of inspiration to come. On days you don't feel "inspired" enough to work then brainstorm. Write through the uncertainty anyway. You might not use everything, but you'll push through your frustration and any possible writer's block.

OK, confront the question: ARE you wasting your time? Consider that in balance with the amount of time spent already. Is it worth it to try to start over? No? Then it's do this thesis or drop the whole idea of getting that degree. Are you prepared to say that would be preferable? If so, what would you do? Have you concluded that the degree is no longer meaningful to you?

There's persistence, and there's cutting your losses. You have to boldly evaluate whether the effort it would need to complete the thesis is worth your while. That means boldly evaluating your long-term goals and values. I won't begin to do it for you, except to point out that if it is hard, there is probably someone whose judgment you trust -- hopefully your thesis adviser, but whatever -- that you can talk this over seriously with him or her, and get feedback on making the decision.

But acknowledge it is your decision to make, and you really don't have an excuse to put off making it: that, clearly, is a waste of time. Decide, and if it's worth it, review it again and make yourself a list of things you need to do to complete it and revise it to your satisfaction. Then dig in, because you have decided it is worthwhile.

Set aside a time to do it. Like 7-8 pm for example. Turn off the tv, radio and other distractions. Work on your project for 1 hour. Once you get started, you should be able to get a bit further. When you're done, you can reward yourself with a favorite tv show or movie.

Putting it off will only give you more work later on.

Go and watch the boys and girls flipping burgers at McDonalds and imagine yourself doing that at 50 years old.
Then remember that image any time you feel like slacking off.
I am assuming that English is not your first language and is not the language your thesis will be written in, so well done with your question. Don't worry about the grammar, most English speakers don't either! :o)

You're seriously writing a thesis with grammer like that? Good luck!

You have to give yourself breaks and rewards though to be honest - work for so long and then give yourself a treat, it's a real drag studying for long periods.
