Anything that has potentially introduced an infection into the body can produce a swollen lymphnode. In this case (shaving), if the skin has become cut and a foriegn bacteria or virus entered the body, it can produce an immune reaction where white blood cells are called upon to fight the infection. The lymph node in this area may swell as it produces the white blood cells and cleans up the infection.

Yes you can, actually I'm dealing with it as we speak. I went to the doctors yesterday and my shaving in the armpit caused an infection in the broken skin which triggered the lymph node to react and swelled up as the white blood cells are fighting the bacteria. The swelling traveled from my armpit all the way down to the side of my breast. It hurts alittle but antibiotics should clear it up in a few days.

I may I developed a swollen mass on my neck about my adam's apple. It swelled to the size of my thumb nailed, and was quite painful for a couple of days then pain slowly went down and so did the mass to the size of a pea that I could feel underneath my skin. I was away on business and was not able to see my doctor until about 6 days after the fact. I was given antibiotics but the mass never went away. Fast forward to July and it starting swelling and hurting again, that time I went right to a doctor, he gave me antibiotics, and the pain and swelling went down but again not away. I finally went back to my doctor and told him my concerns in September, and he sent me in for an ultra-sound and I have 3 enlarged lymph nodes on the left hand side of my neck. My doctor said he wasn't concerned as they didn't physically resemble that of cancerous ones. Needless to say it has left me quite shaken. After shaving, it is usually a tiny bit tender, so I am reminded it is still there. My doctor then ordered a Blood test (CBC, mono), fecal, urine, which I am awaiting the results. I am going to see and ENT in November. I am 33 years old, and never thought I would be worried about my health at this age. If you could provide any information that might be helpful I would truly appreciate it. I don't have a history of cancer in my family or anything involving the lymphatic system either...
