Yes. It happened with my second pregnacy. I took at least half a dozen home tests, all said negative. I couldn't keep anything down, was so sick but yet my pants were getting really tight. I called my doctor, went in, they did a blood test and it showed positive. They did an ultrasound and I was 14 weeks along. It wasn't showing on a HPT because I was so dehydrated. They gave me IV fluids and some anti-nausea meds and sent me on my way.
It happens more then people think. I've see it multiple times in my practice. If you get a possitive, then for sure you are pregnant. There is almost no way to get a false positive, but false negatives are somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30%. High enough that if you think you are, your period is late, or you are having other symptoms, we would order a blood test to be sure.
Call your doctor, talk to them, see if they can order a serum HcG for you. Either that, or ask if you can be seen. Maybe there is something else going on that needs medical attention. Good luck!!

You are much more likely to have a false negative than a false positive. Try another test, or see if there's a place near you that does free pregnancy tests. A doctor's test looks for the same protein in your urine that a home kit looks for.
If you are barely pregnant, that protein doesn't show up as strong, so you can get a negative reading.
The further along you are, the higher the protein levels, so the easier it is to detect.

Yup, my youngest daughter I had been taking hpt's and they all came out negative so I finally decided to go to the doctor because I was so tired all the time and as a mom of two toddlers that just wasn't like me. Come to find out I was as pregnant as could be, I was 10 weeks when I found out and still getting negative home tests.

Happened to me. Home test said neg. I kept going to my family practitioner to find out why i couldnt get over that "flu bug" that Id been fighting for over 3 weeks. Test taken in the office said neg also. I had an upper GI to see if I had an internal stomach problem and they saw 2 little heartbeats. Blood test said Pos.

That happened to me, I took one at home pregnancy test and it was negative and I waited a week and it turned out that it was positive but the lines were very faint so I didn't think that I was.
I went to the doctors, I was given a blood test and it was positive...

YES AND HERE IS MY STORY:
I started vomiting one day and I vomited a little amount after every time I ate...well I went to the doctor and he ordered an endoscopy (the tube down your throat into stomach) and they did a biopsy of my stomach...well the pregnancy test came out negative but the next day I started to vomit blood (from the biopsy) and went to the hospital the very next day they drew blood and said "congratulations your 2 weeks pregnant" :P

This happens quite frequently. Some people only get negatives with home pregnancy tests and test positive with blood tests. This happened to my sister in law three months ago!

Sometimes if you take over the counter drugs, they can alter your urine pregnancy test results. Blood tests are always more accurate.
