If we wanted to invade countries for oil we could have invaded Mexico and Venezuela and we'd have been a lot closer to home. The troops could take weekend liberty at home.

Iraq was invaded because everyone "knew" there were WMDS and believed Iraq posed a threat to the security of Israel. Iraq had nothing to do with oil except it drove the cost of crude up and made the war more expensive.

certainly it really is all about Oil. the USA has over and over demanded that Saudi Arabia to boost its oil extraction, a call for which Saudi Arabia has over and over refused. u . s . a . of america possesses significant reserves of Oil. in spite of the indisputable fact that u . s . a . of america does no longer favor to take advantage their own elements, and would somewhat that all the different international locations exhaust their own grant of oil to make certain that the USA to achieve a monopoly on the oil marketplace, and likewise to have a strategic income over their elements. practically each conflict that u . s . a . of america has entered into will be traced again to grease, and organic elements. u . s . a . of america has a loose commerce contract with Canada that stipulates that if u . s . a . of america does no longer have sufficient elements, Canada is OBLIGATED to deliver them elements no matter if Canada does no longer have sufficient for its own voters. or perhaps extra those days, the debatable 'purchase American' clause which may have compelled Canadian vendors to purchase products from u . s . a . of america somewhat than different places that ought to provide a more cost-effective incentive. Additonally, if human beings trust that u . s . a . of america entered Iraq to 'launch' an oppressed human beings, then how come you by no skill entered North Korea, Sudan, Chechneya, and all the different places which oppression takes position on a common foundation and to a miles more beneficial severe than it ever changed into in Iraq? certainly, compared to those places, Iraq is a toddler. the reply is two fold. the first being that each and each of those places does no longer grant a strategic incentive in words of elements, and the different being that u . s . a . of america has an time table, an time table to shop its own human beings in convenience at the same time as something of the international will wade through.

It was more than oil....it was also about saving the U.S. dollar from collapse. Hussein wanted to start selling his oil in Euros. This would crush the U.S. dollar if it spread to other countries.

We are the world's largest debtor nation whose currency is supported by the international market for petroleum being denominated in dollars. One of Paul Bremer's first acts as head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq was to decree that all Iraqi oil sales be henceforth denominated only in U.S. dollars....THAT was the real mission accomplished.

Afghanistan was/is supposed to have a pipeline running through it, it is also strategically important for access to the former SU republics with oil in other ways.
And as is evident now, Iraq was only the first step.
They have their eyes on Iran now.

No, but I do think that much of our involvement in that region is directly connected to our dependence on foreign oil. That is why it really ticks me off to see an SUV with a anti-war slogan.
Have you seen the poster that looks like a WWII propaganda poster....it has a Sailor, missing an arm, standing in front of a soccer mom and her SUV. Make a very valid point.

Not at all, but it is a popular conspiracy theory among lefties who think the invasion was wrong. The reason Iraq was invaded was because it was believed they had WMD (which they did not) and because it was a natural action of a hawkish, neo-con administration, who want to protect Western society against islamo-facism.

Let me tell you why:

The goal was ALWAYS Iran. This game is unfolding very nicely for the oil people. We are FLANKING IRAN ON TWO SIDES!!

Once Iran is taken, the US will control the entire Middle East!!

That's just another of the illogical reason for some to dislike Republicans. It makes as little sense as Usama's declaring war on the US because we won't convert to Islam.

Hey if you don't want to like someone what's wrong with saying the real reason why?

No. We are there for the right reasons. The reason being, stopping terrorism. Better to keep the war there than over here.
