Although I'm reassured by images of some cool bald ladies (e.g. Sigourney in Alien3), I fear I will look more like Winston Churchill or an egg. I've had blood tests and there's nothing wrong, except I'm slightly iron-deficient. I've been taking iron supplements for a month and there's been no change yet. I'm losing so many hairs a day at this rate I'll have none left by the weekend. Don't know what to do!

How long is your hair?? My hair it currently at the back of my calves and When it stated to thin I went to the doctor and he said that I needed to wear it more loosely and comb it more gentely. Start taking hair skin and nail vitamins and flax seed oil. Those have helped me. At night regular pillow cases can help in pulling out your hair. Get a satin pillowcase it is softer and wont damage your hair when you sleep. Dont dye color or perm your hair anytime soon. This is an old wives tale but it seems to have worked for my friends and I. Boil avacado seeds in water till rapidly boiling once done remove seeds and cool water to a temp you can handle. Pour that liquid in your hair focusing on what you want to grow. You can also crush up birth control pills and put them in your shampoo. Something about the hormones helps your hair.

It's pretty thick everywhere except on top at the back - kinda thinning a bit there. I've known a lot of people a lot younger than me who were really going bald, though, so I can't complain! :)

It is normal to lose quite a few hairs a day as they renew themselves. However, if you start finding bald patches you need to see your gp cos that is alopecia. Although there isn't much you can do about it, I can recomend a good hairdresser who does a lovely comb over!!!

You might want to get a blood test to have your thyroid checked. An underactive thyroid can make your hair dry and fall out faster, and if that's all it is, a simple prescription can fix it. Worked for me :)
