babies should be babbling at 6 months. This is where they say "ma" "ba" etc.... putting consonants with vowels. They usually say their first real word around 1 year.

It really depends on the child, mine said his first words at 4 months, and it was good morning baby, I told this to him every morning. Every since that morning he has not stopped talking. I was never just one word it was always in sentences. He is now 3 years old, and will correct you if you say something wrong. He is considered a gifted child, and yes this scares me to death. I did and do work with him everyday, everything we do is a lesson, even though he does not realize it. Just work with your baby, show him/her their ABC'S and colors and numbers, letting him/her know what you are showing them. I did this from the time I was pregnant and still do it. Good luck!!!

Really depends on the child. My second child said her first word at literally two weeks old - "hi". I would say between 6 and 8 months is the norm. I've got 4 and they all started when they were ready.

Every child is different. My son is 4 1/2 months and he actually said his first work mama last night. I was very excited I have had 4 of my friends tell me they have heard him say mama within the past month but I don't belive it till I actually heard it and yesterday he said it. So they can say it at any age. But most would say around 6 months. I just say mama and dada to hi all the time and he laughs and well he finally said mama.

babies can be many different ages when they first start to talk. My first born started to speak at 8 months, another at 10 months, and still another at 11 months. Children are all different and so are their abilities to learn. Good Luck

All babies are different but my son said mom when he was 4 and a half months. I had lot of witnesses so I know I was not imagining anything. It is a great feeling when your baby says your name.

All kids are different. My first kid was talking way young. By the time she was two she was talking in full sentences and my second child is 2 1/2 now and doesn't talk as much as her sister did.

All these answers tell you that there is no exact age and it is up to the child. But dont we all wish our babies were "gifted" like Todd's babies. Todd deserves a trophy cause his kids are sooo smart. Everyone thinks their child is the best but dont you hate when someone brags to you about it and insists theirs is better than yours.

da-das and ma-mas start at 6. My kids can put togehter words by 9. At roughly 14 months...my kids speaks complete sentences. But then they are both considered gifted at school so probably not normal for a kid.

It all depends on the child. My friend has a 3 1/2 month old & they've all been repeating "Da Da" around him to try & entice him to try talking. He was laying in his crib one day just babbling away in baby talk & my friend heard "da" & "doo doo". She was sooo excited!
