Individuality left tattooing when it became fashion/fad.

Not everyone thinks that tattoos are statement of rebellion. It depends on individual's mindset!

Some people think that because their friends have tattoos therefore they tattoo themselves too.

Some wants to be different from others.

Some just like the art out of it.

Some are just trend-follower.. They copy blindly. Or should i say, tattoo for the sake of tattooing. If they dont have any tattoos, they feel that they're not trendy enough. Which i think it's so stupid. I mean, tattoos are on your skin forever. Lasering cost more than a tattoo itself most of the time.

Anyway, some people are more conservative while others are more open-minded. So then again, it depends on the individual!

Nailed that one!

It's no longer a statement of individuality or rebellion. Like the clothes you wear, or your hairstyle, it's simply a reflection of who you are. And, like it or not, most people, are, well, um..., a lot like most other people.

The real individuals and rebels out there may still have tattoos, but that isn't what makes them distinctive. It's the attitude and experiences, and, as the words to the song go, "Ya can't fake the funk."

Back when I taught junior high, one of my stock phrases was "Just because you're the black sheep of the school doesn't mean you're not sheep"

Well personally I have 9 tats all designed by me...So I don't have the same basic art work...But, alot of people like the same things that might be why they get simular designs...And actually no two tats are actally the same because every artist has their own still or the shading might be different or the colors or even the size or placement...

OH YOU MEAN JUST LIKE YOU'RE ALL ON ANSWERS SAYING THE SAME THING?????
NO TATTS ARE NOT ABOUT REBELLION AS SUCH OR EVEN INDIVIDUALITY
THEY ARE ABOUT YOUR INTERPRETATION /EXPRESSION OF HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF
P.S.IF A TATTO WAS ONLY A WORD HOW MANY ARE IN YOUR BASIC VOCABULARY-PROBABLY AS MANY AS EVERYBODY ELSE-EH!!!!
THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY PICTURES
AND IF YOU ARE NOT ARTISTIC OR HAVE LOTS OF MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR OWN DESIGN-WELL-YOU GET IT
STOP BAGGIN PEOPLE AND START TO BE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF

It's a shame isn't it? So many people just do things because everyone else is doing it. I think it's pretty lame. Although I do love tatts.

because they dont know what they are doing to themselves. tatoos should be all about originality, unless they hold a personal meaning to you, and then they are, by definition, original.
