I always loved playstation, I have a ps1 and 2 but the ps3 is way too expensive and has only one game that gets me excited (metal gear solid 4) and that's not out until 2007. The Wii on the other hand has a pretty nifty controller, the fee-motion technology looks extremely entertaining. But what really interests me is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, it looks amazing. Zelda OOT on my n64 was one of the best, if not the best game i've ever played. The only thing stoping me from geting a Wii is 3rd party support, will there be enough? This seems to be changing and there seems to be more support but you can never be sure. I will most probably get a Wii sooner or later (Zelda makes me lean closer to sooner) but i'm not sure about the ps3. What do you think?

I think Wii will be way more successful than its 2 predecers, E3 'implies' it. But if not is $600 really worth mgs4 and ff13?

Here are a few points to consider...

The Nintendo Wii is cheaper, and is offering a diverse amount of games and such. It is designed to be a "party gaming machine". Apparently, the reason they called it the "Wii" is because the "ii" symbolizes two people playing a game together. Or something to that extent. Anyway, Wii = $250 + $50 games.

Playstation 3 offers advanced systems, but they've gone back on several promises. Original promise was that for $600, you get the HDMI interface for high def TVs. That's not the case -- you have to buy an extra kit for that. PS3 is also selling at half their production amounts on opening day, so it might be very hard to get one. The price was announced at $600, but there's been rumors on the wire about that price dropping. However, PS3 is the leading supporter of more expensive games... so here's how it figures. $600 for a console + $75 to $100 per game.

I'm not a huge Metal Gear Solid fan (yet), but I can speak for Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy was the brainchild of Hironobu Sakaguchi, who invented the game in a last ditch effort to save Square. IN fact, he didn't think it would sell, but it did. Hironobu Sakaguchi is also the guy who oversaw and was largely responsible for FF6, which a lot of people have considered was the high point of the FF Series. An Epic story, if you will. The later FF games have a hard time holding a candle to the scope of the story (though FF7 is remarkable as well).

After FInal Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Hironobu Sakaguchi left Squaresoft (now Square Enix) to found his own company, Mist Walker. Being that the FF creativity came from this man, I would find it hard to think that FF13 is going to be much more than an eye-candy show, and an expensive eye-candy show at that (especially if the price of games rises).

And then there's the Sony Executives. I have a hard time morally supporting a company whose CEO goes on the record saying "We want people to get a second job in order to afford our products".

Personally, I'm still waiting. I'm more inclined to get a Wii, but who knows. As of what has been released at the moment, I feel that Sony is a giant enemy crab, and Wii will change it's "weapons" in realtime and strike Sony's weak point for massive damage.

Do what I'm going to do; Im a avid Sony supporter too, but they have gone too far, I cannot wait this long! I got a Xbox 360, but wasn't very impressed with the gameplay aspects of the games, even though at some points it can be stunning. I feel The Xbox 360 is very similar to the PS3, but the PS3 odviously has afew more advanced fetures, but is also overpriced.

I am going to get a Wii, and 2 games which look too good to miss; Twilight Princess, and Redsteel. I also plan to play Wii sports with my family, so I will also be buying some more controllers.

After that, I will just see! If the PS3 looks too good to be missed i will buy it.

I doubt I will sell my Wii after that since by then there will be Metroid, Super smash bros Brawl and Mario Galaxy. Though a couple abit less mature than Twilght and Red Steel, I feel that the control is too good to be missed!

Hope I've helped!

PS3 is too expensive, costs $600. The price is jacked up because of the PS3's ability to read Blu-ray discs. HD Ready discs. Although their graphix are much better than the Nintendo Wii, i guess the question now is...Do i have enough money or not? Nintendo Wii has the new Legend of Zelda game that everyone's been dying for, for PS3 ppl want Metal gear Solid pretty badly. Although it hasn't come out yet. Face the fact that the Nintendo Wii is half the price of the PS3. Nintendo Wii is $250. Along w/ an inovation of Nintendo's trendy thinking with the free motion controller. In my opinion, Wii is good for just affordability. If u want real gaming graphixs, u'll have to pay a whole lot more. ($600 minimum)

The wii, its offering a different gaming experience, whereas the PS3 is basically the same as the ps2 but with more advanced graphics and multimedia functions that most people can do without, I mean why would I want to play music on it, I have an Mp3 player and I'm not interested in watching movies on it, i'll use my widescreen television for that, I just want a dedicated game console that offers a different way of playing, an advancement on what we already have on offer. Personally I think Sony/Playstation are vastly overrated, when it goes down inprice you could still buy the Ps3if you wanted, plus there will be more games to choose from.

Trust me if you know what's good for you (and I'm sure you do) you'll buy the Nintendo Wii because it's going to be the greatest system ever designed. (Trust me I know what I'm talking about) and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess already appears to have the makings of what could possibly be the the greatest Zelda game IN THE ENTIRE SERIES. I don't care what it takes or what I have to do I am going to get a Nintendo Wii whatever it takes.

Definatly the Wii, The Playstation 3 doesn't seem to be that much of a step up from the PS2 . Just take a look at all the original titles coming out on the Nintendo D.S Nintendogs , Brain Accademy etc etc - The Nintendo Wii will follow suit with it's new controller - I can't wait!!

You need to weigh up the pro's and cons. First.
Price.
Wii- £179.99
PS3- £425
Release
Wii- 8th December
PS3- March '07
And of course the Wii comes with the benefits of Wi-Fi connection, the revolutionary new controller. Exciting, amazing and original games such as Red Steel, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. The Wii is the clear choice here with better choice of games, and of course the amazing control,

Wii will get plenty of 3rd party support, Ubi are allready doing 8 games for it, and thats imense considering it isnt released yet.

I say do what I am doing, buy a wii now and a PS3 when the price drops.

oh, and the guy above me says most wii games will be amed at under 15 year olds, dont listen to him the wii will have tonnes of games for all ages and a few aimed specificly at younger gamers allong with a few games aimed at older audiences, the perfect balance if you ask me

Get a ps3 if you have or can afford it with a HDTV, otherwise what has the ps3 got that an xbox 360 already hasnt got? I like the nunchuk idea for the wii and Zelda is the best game series ever. Because i have an xbox 360 i dont need a ps3 (just too expensive), but im thinking of getting a wii ust for zelda. Get a wii if you havent got a 360.

I will be buying the Wii. I had to analyse both consoles for a module at University. Nintendo will be making sooo many games available for download that were previously only avaiable on certain consoles.

The controller can be used as a light sabre in star wars games, like a model plane for flying games. Remember when you were litlle and flew your lego planes round the room, well it's just like that! I believe it's being launched very very soon.
