The facts have not been released, even to the 9-11 Commission and have been withheld through the use of executive privilege.
The only information we have for certain is that the twin towers of the World Trade Center were struck by airplanes and subsequently collapsed. The details on the cause of the collapse are still being debated by engineers and scientists. The Pentagon was also struck, apparently by another air plane.
The Air Force, contrary to policy, did not launch a fighter wing to escort any of the hijacked planes until after the second WTC tower was hit.
In a video, someone who appears to be Osama bin Laden claims to have masterminded the attacks.
Of the 19 hijackers that the CIA and FBI claim to have taken over the planes, at least 7 are still alive and well throughout the world.
