I agree with you. That way you also have plenty of time to get everything put away and still have time to shop for the things you need but didnt get. Plus avoiding the holidays is a great idea. Sounds like you've got it right.

My due date is Nov 17th and my shower is Oct 14th, but would be having it later if not for others' birthdays, Halloween, etc... If you are sure of your due date, I would go second week of January. It will give you time to prepare the baby's room without having stuff all over for a long time. Also, it is after christmas and new years, so it gives you and everyone else a chance to bounce back from the holiday season. Just make sure you send out your invites early enough and make follow up phone calls so that people are able to come and plan for it.

I would do the shower in the beginning to the middle of November. Many people are so busy in Dec that you might not get a huge turn out. Besides all people really need to do in Nov is cook for thanksgiving. Congrats and hope you have a blast!

I'd make it for the beginning of November. That gives you a couple months to get everything organized & provide a comfort zone just in case the baby comes early AND it's before the holidays when everyone still has money. One of my friends had her baby in June & the baby shower was in April. It turned out well cause it gave them time to get other needed items they didn't receive at the shower AND her husband is a procrastinator & luckily got the crib put together a couple weeks before the baby was born....he was a week early.
The moral: allow plenty of time cause you never know when a baby is to arrive.

The date you have chosen sounds fine but have you ever considered having the shower after the baby is born? I think it is sweet to have the baby present at the shower. Perhaps the second week in February? I'm sure more people would be able to attend with the date pushed further from the holidays AND they could afford a gift AND see the baby. So many people wish to see the newborn but just don't get around to visiting.

That's pretty funny, I have the exact due date, and my family and friends are throwing my baby shower on november 11, if I do it later it would be too close to my bday (nov 24) and afterwords it's just xmas. I live in southamerica and we don't have thanksgiving here, but i think it's better to have it at the beggining of november because you really don't know when the baby is going to make his/her great appareance to the world..Congrats!!

i had this dilemma as well. i had a shower i believe the week before thanksgiving. i was already fairly big in the belly and it did take the financial edge off of christmas for all the invitees. i think the december one is too close to your birthday....after all you will recieve mostly baby stuff for the shower....a few friends may get you a personal gift too...but for you birthday you aren't going to be too happy with a package of wipes...lol. good luck to you and enjoy these last few months.

I think that the begining of December is a great choice. You definately don't want to do it too close to Christmas or Thanksgiving becuase people won't have alot of cash for gifts and they might be too busy to attend. Another option that some people do is wait unitl after the baby is born. That way your friends get to see the baby too.

A baby shower is acceptable to have any time after you start your sixth month. So any time after you will be 28 weeks is okay to have a shower. I definitely would not wait until January to have your shower...you are going to be soooo fat and tired that you won't have any fun putting all your new stuff away, plus if your baby comes early, you won't feel ready. Any time after Thanksgiving is safe.
