Because there desperate and its all they have. The funny thing is that they claim the left is full of nothing but hate, but that is just a smoke screen. The real truth is there embarrassed and disgusted by what Bush has done, and there masking this by hating and making pathetic attempts to stir people away from how just horrible a leader Bush really is. It's all they have.

The voters in America who help put them in office are like a "battered woman" who initially marries a charming guy, only to find out he has a problem with drinking, violence and domination.

Once they are married to it, they turn their anger away from the cause, feeling powerless, and support their captor.

"Stockholm syndrome" would be another way to understand the phenomemon.

Ideogenetics, it is a joy to see such intellect as yours at work. But I slightly disagree--the working-class Republicans *know* deep-down who is the bad guy, but it is too unpleasant to acknowlege, so they continue angrily forward...keep up the good introspection!

Now, all that said, it would be a mistake not to watch the Dems as closely. They have as much potential to become monsters as do the neocons. Look at LBJ--this was such an awful crook that even a neocon would smirk in admiration!

Ultimately, Americans need to wake up to the reality that our government holds far too much power. An easy guage of its power is what percent of your income is extorted in taxes.

LESS THAN 10% is acceptable, WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD TOLERATE NO MORE THAN 10%!!!

The only durable solution is support of a third party. Libertarian appears to be a good alternative to the two parties.

This is an excellent question that only a psychiatrist can answer.

My arm-chair psychology hunch is they fall into two groups: those who have it all and want to avoid sharing anything (rich Republicans with a winner take all attitude), and those who don't have anything and blame it on those who want to share (poor or working class Republicans who can't recogize our flawed economic system, that rewards the few at the expense of the many, so they blame our social problems on silly notions like "personal responsibility" or "lack of values").

To sum up:

The rich Repubs are vicious because they are the greedy winners taking all we've got and they want to keep it that way.

The working and poor Repubs are vicious because they are angry at our system but don't have a clue that the first group- their brothers in politics- are the cause!

Hold on a second here...I take it you're a liberal. Aren't you supposed to be one of those more enlightened, more open-minded, more understanding, more accepting individuals? Isn't your mantra "I'm OK, you're OK"? Neocons and Republicans aren't vicious pricks, we're just tired of the endless whining, griping, moaning and complaining from arrogant, self-righteous hypocrites like you.

Not all neocons and republicans are vicious pricks, but most vicious pricks are neocons and republicans.

They are like that to begin with, they just then become attracted to
right-wing politics,that's why!

Their verbal abuse is in their nature, the politics is secondary.\
