To get anywhere in the field you're probably going to need a postgraduate qualification. Sadly with the popularity of psychology these days an BA or BSc in Psychology doesn't mean much. I'm not trying to put the subject down at all, I have a BA in psychology myself (and bloody useless it is too!)

Anyway, see how you like the course first, you might change your mind about what you want to do in the future.
You should be able to change course or universities without too much hassle also, as long as you do it in your first year - you'll probably just end up taking an extra year to graduate.

I did a psychology course with the OU and passed with a 2nd class Honours degree. I wrote to about 60 different places trying to get a role as a trainee. They only take if you have a first class degree, so study hard if you want to do it as a career. The nearest role I got was working in a hospital, as a PA to one, I passed the assessment test with flying colours, due to understanding the terminology, but money was crap so turned it down. Its very competitive.

It may vary from state to state, and it also depends on just what you have in mind. Here in Oregon if you want to hang out your shingle and call yourself "Psychologist", you have to have a Master's degree in Psychology with some clinical experience, and you have to pass a state licensing exam (which is probably what you mean by "registered"). Without that license, you also would not be able to get malpractice insurance.

As advised but a lot of life experience would help.
Shop work, taxi driving, caring and social work will back up the theory.
Personally I think the position is a cop out for the experts who don't have an answer.
Cause and effect is far more useful may I suggest.
