It was a while ago that I was going through this but I think that I started with just a teaspoon full at evening mealtime at about 4 months and then progressed to a teaspoonful at breakfast and evening meal then a couple in the evening one.
I used to mix their milk in with a small amount of baby rice in the beginning and rarely used the pre-packed baby foods. I used to take a small part of our dinner before any salt/spices had been added, blend it with a hand blender then put it into an ice cube tray. This will then keep for upto 3 months in the freezer and can be defrosted as and when quite easily. It is much cheaper, is portable and has the added advantage of getting baby used to the taste of your cooking so it is easier in the long run than having to wean them onto pre-packaged meals and then again to wean them onto your own food.
All good clean fun!

Do you mean weaning him off the bottle and baby formula? I mean it's your decision and all but I always thought that babies shouldn't be weaned until they are about 1 year old. Is there a reason you are weaning him so early? Anyways, my baby just turned 7 months old the other day and he still takes the bottle and his baby formula. However, we still give him baby food, applesauce, baby cereal and things like that about 3 times a day. But remember, we still give him his baby formula everyday too.

A baby of this age should be drinking a least 20oz of formula milk but this can be counted in yoghurts and cheese as is all calcium. You should aim eventually for 3 meals a day with water and milk as well it is really trial and error at this stage to get the right balance but if you are just starting out the milk is still the most important.

yeh,5 times of Formula as well as solid is absolutely alright.
My baby is six months old.before we started solid she was taking 30 oz milk in a day in 7/8 times. But now she is having only 4-5 times including two times solids. One is given to her at 11am( rice pudding) another is at 2pm( vegetables with chicken and rice).I am planning to give her some fruit purees at afternoon.
I think, 6 months old baby need to have solids three times a day.
Hope this can help you.
Good luck

My baby is 8 months. He started on baby rice at tea time along with his usual milk feeds. Once established on that, he went onto packet food at lunch time. He now has cereal for breakfast with a milk bottle, a jar and fruit puree or yoghurt for pudding with another milk bottle, and a jar or whatever we eat for tea with pudding and a milk feed for tea time. He finishes the day with a full 9oz bottle then off to bed at 7-7.30 and sleeps til 8am the next day. he always has 20 oz or more of milk a day.

Depends - if you supplement weaning with bottles or with juice and baby food. I would say three meals and 3 snacks a day. Like juice and cereal or formula.

it entirley up to you you know your baby best but they need at least a pint of milk a day so if that starts to increase then increase the soilds because its the milk that makes them fat not the solids but i would say try soilds breakfeast dinner and tea just a little with there milk then eventually when he is eating more solids change one his dinner bottle for juice etc and Hey he wont starve he'll tell you if hes still hungary another sign is he may start to wake again in the night

Here are some websites that might help answer your question. I fed my daughter the cereal w/fruit or veggies three times a day (only a few spoonfuls at first) along with the formula.
