Look for recent changes in the law and look at the possible impact of the changes on litigants and society. For example the introduction of the Age Discrinination Regulations and the possible advantages and disadvantages of the legislation. How it compares to the current Acts and regulations and Does it benefit Human rights in general.

Another idea may be "positive" discrimination. Does it exist and if so does it benefit society as a whole?

Just a couple of ideas

I understand your predicament I graduated in July with my LLB so I've just been through it.

Good luck.

The CIA: Activities in Third World Countries 1945 to the end of the Cold War. Should be an eye opener for an American politics undergraduate. Have fun! My own dissertation was entitled "The New Right: A Study in the Creation of Hegemony". You might try something on the same lines but with an international dimension.

Start with concepts of Jurisprudence, and co-relate the trend to quote case laws, instead of going to enactment, or even preamble afresh for each of the complex cases.....
The main issue would be tendency of lawyers, and judges alike, preferring to lean upon case laws, making the trend of Justice oriented judgment bleak !
Quoting cases where such judgments could have been redrafted , and also touching upon principles of equity, and its ultimate relevance to international law , would make a tough but good choice !

You could discuss why the Legal profession is self protective to the point of distruction.

It never stands up and says "this is wrong" it always errs on the side of precendence...which doesn't add any value to society at all.
