Open the case, unplug the old hard drive, plug in the new one, close the case...reinstall all your software.

Open up the PC & find the empty bay to hook your new drive. you should be able to find one just below or above the already installed HD. screw it up and find empty power cables that are coming from the power unit, and also an unused data jack. there should be one on the data cable already used for the existing HD. hook up the power & data cables. Make sure the red wire of the power and the red stripe of the data cable become adjacent. That's it.
However, if this is a secondary drive, make sure to hook the tiny linker on the HDD to the 'slave' position. Directions are given on the label on the HDD

If you are adding this hard drive and you will have two or more hard drives...check the back of the hard drive. There is a "jumper" (a small, usually black plastic thingy that makes a connection across two "pins") your options are typically mstr (master), slv (slave) and cs (cable select). If this is to be your primary (main) hard drive make sure your jumper is in the master position and any hard drive on the same data cable is set to slave. If this is to be a secondary drive (slave) then make sure the jumper is set to slave and any hard drive on the same cable is set to master.

insert the hard drive into the hard drive bay.
screw in the screws to hold it in the bay.
attach the data cable.
attach the power cable.

If this is a new, unformatted hard drive and it is your master drive then, plug in the power and turn the system on and put your OS CD in the cd-rom drive and wait for the system to boot from the cd-rom, follow the prompts to install your OS.

(That's GB BTW).

1. switch off & disconnect PC from power.
2. Open PC (warning this may void your warrenty).
3. Place new drive in a free drive bay
4. cable up the data cable (SATA or PIDE usually) to a free interface on the MB. The SATA will be about 10mm or less wide. PIDE is about 60mm wide.
5. plug in the power cable to the drive. It'll usually be a 4 pin molex plug from the power supply.
6. reassemble PC & plug in. Power up & verify the drive is seen in the BIOS.

YMMV. Warning you may break your PC doing this. No rep taken. etc etc. Don't touch parts internally, static kills components. If you have an internal CRT, high voltages may be present that could kill you. (Damn... I almost sound like a lawyer here :)
