Please explain how he does it. The following points are not mine...I wish they were. I got them from boortz.com.

1.) I thought Bush was an idiot. If he's so dumb, then how is he controlling the price of gasoline and the world price of oil? Surely such an intellectual lightweight is incapable of lording over the worldwide energy market and controlling it.

2.) If Bush controlled energy prices, wouldn't he keep gasoline cheap all the time, ensuring Republican domination during his entire presidency? Why did he allow the gas prices to go up in the first place? During his 2004 campaign...when gas prices were high and hurting his re-election campaign, wouldn't it have been handy to call all the gas stations and knock a buck or two off the price?

3.) And last but not least, why are gas prices only around $2 right now? Surely if the GOP operated the gas price lever, they would drop it down to around a dollar...ensuring a sweeping victory in November.

Sheesh, you people are dumber than I thought. Look up the definition of "satire" and "irony". Don't you understand I am attempting to point out the STUPIDITY of the left? The idiots on the left keep telling us how DUMB the President is.

Guru, this is one of the better posts in recent memory. You have succeeded in draining the swamp and revealing only people who: a) don't understand satire; b) really DO think Bush can pull a lever (figuratively or literally) to control the price of gas; or c) both of the above. There were a couple of smart exceptions, but the majority of the answers fit this pattern.

Good job!

I am really *happy* when I see the slowly dropping prices. I suspect others are as well, so it is *enough*--and going all they way down to $1/gal would seem too set up.

Now, if you were an oil executive, who do you think you would want to win?

Thats why the oil people have, on their own initiative, lowered the prices until after about Christmas, after which the price will slowly creep back up until the summer, when it will be *almost as high* as this past summer.

It doesn't matter whether Bush is an idiot. As long as he is corrupt, the devils of this world will do everything in their nefarious power to keep one of his family or friends.

Apparently he is not just a genius, but has powers of telepathy to rival Yoda. He must be able to use these Jedi mind tricks to convince OPEC and the oil producing countries to lower their prices in order to help the GOP win in November even though many of these leaders resent the US and the Republican party for their support of Israel. So these countries who are merely allies of convenience are willing to lose countless billions and risk angering countless numbers of their own citizens who are anti-US, solely for the sake of helping the GOP during mid year elections when the Presidency is not at stake.

That's a pretty good trick. So in 2008 when the Presidency is is up for grabs what will Bush do then? Convince OPEC to pay us to take their oil?

I didn't realize Bush was that powerful. I thought it had to do with supply and demand, a hurricane season that never materialized and surplus production. Besidesm if the Republicans are take credit for falling prices, they can be blamed of rising prices. The cost of crude oil is outside the control of the POTUS.

Obviously it's not them that are dumb. Your attempt at trying to make the left look dumb failed. You only achieved at making yourself look silly by generalizing. I am quite left and don't think that Bush controls the prices of gas and oil. I think that there is someone else who controls those prices. Besides, getting a c- average at some ivy league school, and that grade was purchased, definitely doesn't make him a rocket scientist.

1.) You were right. He's not, but it sure doesn't hurt the family oil business.

2.) No need. Republicans would vote for Satan himself rather than abandon their party.

3.) Found more oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The GOP could lower gas prices to .50/gal at this point & still lose.

Politicians do not control anything personally. They get other people to do it for them and take all the credit. The government taxes everything therefore making things more expensive. The only way to reduce prices is to remove taxes. That is all that is happening. Of course, taxes for income will probably increase, while the government does nothing to make your education and health systems better.

So, according to your argument, Bush should get credit when the price of gas is low, but shouldn't take any responsibility when it is high. That's the Republican way.

Dumb Presidents usually hire intelligent advisors. Since President Bush couldn't even pull that off, we have the worst adminstration in U.S. history.

President Bush is fairly stupid, but his advisors aren't all idiots. Many are just crooked. Fraud and stupidty aren't equivalent. It takes some smarts to trick normally intelligent, common sense Americans to do things contrary to their personal and national interests.

"An aide to the prime minister of Canada called President Bush a moron. Well that's not fair. Here's a guy who never worked a day in his life, got rich off his Dad's money, lost the popular vote and ended up president. That's not a moron, that's genius!"
