First you need to determine the cause of the diarrhea. It could be related to food, colitis, or an infection, such as amoebiasis or even from intestinal worms. You would be well advised to visit your doctor, but try paregoric to slow it down and make sure you keep up your fluid intake....fruit juices, and such. Do not eat fresh fruit as it may aggravate the problem. A simple OTC drug called Gax-X will reduced the amount of gas. However do see a physician.

No, I wouldn't say it is normal. Are you consuming anything with a laxative effect, e.g. sugar-free candies (maltitol, isomalt, xylitol, etc.), or are you taking natural senna, for example. Perhaps you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); this would be accompanied by painful cramping in your gut. The problem with prolonged diarrhea, is that you may be getting deydrated and lack some electrolytes necessary to keep the body functioning properly. I suggest that you go see your doctor asap and address the problem. I hope this helps you.

If you keep eating the foods that cause diarrhea, then yes - it can last indefinitely. Give your stomach a rest. Eat toast, water, and applesauce. A little chicken soup is ok too. It's a good idea to call your doctor, regardless. Also, try an anti-diarrheal medicine like Imodium.

Log off the computer, get into your car, goto the ER, and inform them that you have had diarrhea for a week. You are suffering from SEVERE dehydration at this point, and you need fluids put into your body NOW with an IV.

Stop reading and go now.

no. It is not normal. I would advise you see a doctor. I am a nurse and you should not keep having diarrhea. I hope you are drinking plenty of fluids. It could be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) , This is taken care of with medication. But, please if you keep having this go to a doctor. Don't listen to anyone with a stupid answer. Don't play around with your life! You only get one!!

The best answer is already given. It is NOT normal. It can cause dehydration and eventually lead to death. But, what has caused this condition? That is what you need to find out. Go to your MD. Be well and prosper.
