Atypical - meaning children with developmental disabilities?

These children are some of the most loving, innocent individuals. Their physical limitations can make working with them a challenge. Some have problems communicating that cause frustrated outbursts.

But, overall - working with these children can be a truly rewarding experience.

i had to do field work with toddlers with disabilities. i was dreading it, i like the jr hi age group, and put it off for as long as possible.
once there, i fell in love with them, all of them. i miss them terribly since i left. like the first answer says, they have unconditional love and an innocence that is heartbreaking. if you feel inclined to be in the field, i would highly recommend it. i adored them!

yes it is a challenge, but one you dearly love. its almost like childbirth. it hurts real bad, but you instantly forget it.
good luck to you!
