im into computers big time, your emails ARE NOT stored on hard drive if using an internet based acount like you are, they are stored on a server somewhere, if someone knew you address then they might be able to hack into it but they would need to be really good to do it, if you want to ensure privacy get a program called "windows washer" it will get rid of history, recent files, even the drop down menu you get when typing an address/

Your emails are not recorded on your HDD. When a law enforcement agency wants to obtain your emails, they have to get a court order to have the tapes pulled from Yahoo or Hotmail.
Many people are caught off guard and when the police raid their office of home with a valid search warrant they still have emails on their pc that they did not delete. Or they saved them to a file.

If you are using outlook or something similiar. Yes they can because in order to store e-mail in you computer it has to go to hard drive.
If you do not want that to happen used the web-mail version which looks just like outlook and it does not get store in your hard drive unless you download an attachment.

Yahoo emails are not recorded on your hard drive unless you copy paste and save as a document.

Well it can be done by searching your hard drive etc., I use Window Washer, by Webroot, and you can set it to military specs for deleting your computer history. It works great!
