Most advocate use of force when need.

And most Americans advocated "going in"

And most Americans NOW regret that we even went.

And most Americans advocate staying 'till the job is done.

I would like to think that most people are opposed to war in general, but I would also like to think that most people understand the need for it at times. As for the war in Iraq, there is no simple answer in my mind. In hindsight, we can look at the war and question what it has really accomplished and do so critically if we choose. Now, I am now Bush apologist, but I don't think that anyone can really assume to know what the correct decision might have been at the time. I suppose I am straying from topic... To answer the question specifically... I would say that most Americans are/were likely in favor of the war at the time but have since been jaded by what has been perceived as mishandling. And no. The troops should not be brought home until the job is done. It's too risky to leave the area now without an American presence.

USA had faced the same problem during the Vietnam War. There were already rumours in the air that it was a brought upon war and that the Tonkein gulf incident was a sham one. The increasing prospect of being mired in a never ending war costing money and men convinced many an American who were initially in favour of discilining Ho Che Minh to leave him alone. The American leadership at the time took a mature decidion to withdrawn even if it would have gone down for the Goliath at the hands of a David. They did not regret it. It is the same case with Iraj. It is clear that there was no threat of secret weapons and now it appear;;s that Osama Bin Laden was not behind it since he and Saddam were at daggers drawn. Thus the bottom has ffallen off and discretion has always been best part of valour.Already there are reports of depression in the armed force people.Leave Iraj to its fate if you cannot help it limp back to normalccy but get out of it.

What was the true motive and objective of Bush and his accolytes for entering Irak? The answer is blowing in the wind, like the lat Bob Marley sang! The American public were told and even warned about the hidden agenda of the present regime in the White House, but every one who wasn't on the regimes side was braded as being non patriotic. Now, the whole world has been put to shame because of the useless ambition of a few who think they can "think" on behalf of the rest of the Western world. Where are we today? They still hold it that the world is a better place today without Saddam. But is that true. Check out the spates of terrorism bursting forth from all the corners of the globe and I dar any body to say this is not linked to the events that exploded after the rape of Irak.
It is about time Rumsfeld get those kids out of Irak. Thy've done enough harm and I bet you, if the Irakis can without the influence of the US elect their own leaders and not the puppets who are now there, then will we start seeing a semblance of peace. Irak doesn't want Americans on their soil. So, please Bush, get those young souls out of the battle fields into your bases. Afghanistan was justified, but not Irak.

I say get the troops out today. This is going to wind up being just like Viet Nam. You can't fight gorillas or fanatics on their own turf. Our soldiers, marines and sailors have done their job great, but get them out now, before we loose one more brother, son, uncle, cousin, father or husband. Bring them home and let them defend our shores here.
