At 64KB/s, a 512,000KB (500MB) file should download in about two hours. If your connection is at 64Kb/s, it should take 16 hours.
Your download manager might be reporting the time taken if a lower speed is used (not all the time the connection and the server can ensure the same speed).

it truly depends on the speed of the connection.
1. you have a broadband or cable connection
2. you are not using a mirror in Germany when you live in Boston.
I use to download full cds of linux distros and it would take a few hours with cable, but now with dsl it' a bit longer. However I don't make this downloads much anymore, but when I did I used the browsers' download.
Maybe your manager is one that requires payment to make them full speed?
try those tips
good luck

If you have a 64Kbps connection, you are actually downloading at 8KBps. There are 8 bits in a byte. Kb is Kilobit and KB is Kilobyte.

Aside from the speed of your connection, downloading time is also affected by your computer, browser, modem, ISP's modem, size of the files, how busy the server is, traffic on the Internet.

Check wheather you connection is 64Kbps (Kilo bits per second) or 64 Kilo Bytes per second. If it is 64KBPs it is not a problem.
