Cold Turkey!! I know putting patches on are better for you than the actual smoking but I just don't want that stuff in my system any longer than it already was going to be. It took a few times of quiting that way but it finally took and I have been free for 5 years now. Eat crunchy things, suck on hard candy, go for a walk around your building, don't go to clubs or your usual hang-out for at least a month. You can do this!!! Read a self help book, try yoga or meditation. Whatever it takes, use the patch if you have to, just do it. You will be so glad you did. Good luck, I'll say a prayer for you for strength.

I quit cold turkey, and I do NOT recommend that method for everyone. I was very irritable for the first couple of weeks, so I kept to myself for the most part instead of being short-tempered with anyone who crossed my path. Our local hospital is offering hypnotherapy for smoking cessation, and according to the people who work in that clinic the success rate is very high. If you can find a hospital that offers hypnotherapy and your medical insurance covers it, I'd suggest trying that. If not, I have several friends who have successfully used the patch.

I went to a smokeenders class. Although I did not quit then, I used all their principles and quit a couple of years later. That was 14 years ago. You are a puff away from a pack a day. Cigarettes will never touch my lips again.
