Light sabre fight between Obi van and Dart Vader from the first episode of original star wars.
This scene summarises almost everything came with star wars : light sabre, ultimate good and evil and their dependency to each other, daring space and light in a space movie, the questions of who are these guys what happened and what will happen which resulted with other sequels. You can take out many scenes from any star wars and things still make sense, but if you take out this scene what is left will not be the same as we know as the "Starwars". These two guys are the "stars", not themselves maybe (one dies at the beginning, and we can't see the others face) however what they represent and the surrounding events of this fight are the essence of the star wars.

Everything from episode IV to VI, episodes I to III is selective, because some of it dragged on a bit. In Episode I, I'd have to say the podrace is the best scene. In Episode II, it's got to be Yoda hasn't it, seeing Yoda like that made me shiver. In Episode III, I liked a lot of the stuff, this was the best one out of the newer episodes, but I really liked the scenes where Obi-Wan, and Anakin are fighting, then Padme's going into labour, and while that's happening, Anakin is turning into Darth Vader. I know it's sick, but I like when they are going around, hunting down all the Jedi's. Apart from when he kills the children.

Trying to narrow favourite scenes down to one is i think impossible. However, immediate senes that spring to mind are the asteroid chase in Empire Strikes Back. The musical background to that scene still gives me goosebumps after 20 years of seeing the movie. Also the fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Ep.III brings a tear. Also the fight between Luke and his old man at the end of Ep.VI. Pure magic.

My favorite scene from the star wars movie is from Episode I. When Qui-Gon Jin and Obi Wan Kenobi prepare to face off against Darth Maul.
I have two reasons, the first being the music. Duel of Fates is the song that begins playing at the beginning of the scene, it sets the tone for an incredible fight. Secondly, it is the first time you see the dual sided lightsaber.

i like near the end of Return of the Jedi during the light saber dual between Luke and Vader when Luke cuts Vader's hand off and then the Emperor starts to clap and say that now Luke should finish off Vader and take his place at his side, then Luke looks down at his own hand and then Vader's and realizes that he doesn't want to become like his father and turns to the Emperor and shuts down his light saber and throws it off to the side and says "No your wrong, you have failed you highness, i will never turn to the dark side, I am a Jedi, like my father before me." I just love that whole scene and that last part spoken my Luke it is so powerful.

The Battle of Hoth scene in Empire. It's the most intense fight scene of the saga and the music is fantastic.
If they had put in a scene where Jar-Jar dies a horrible, painful death that would get my vote.

The fight between Anakin and whatshisname (Ewan McGreggor - I love the films and know this but my brain has gone blank!) in Revenge of the Sith cos of the edge of your seat action. Master and pupil up against each other as that lava is rising - nail biting stuff!

The closing scene at the award ceremony. With that big band sound it brings me back to my school years as a member of concert band. It rocked!
