no don't lie on it, you can get fired for giving false info about your background. If you're young, there's not going to be much you can put on it. Have you been on any "teams" in school? speech and debate or anything like that? You could put those on. but don't lie on it.....

NEVER lie on a resume or an application.
An application is what the employer wants to know, the resume is selling yourself to the employer. Lying does NOT help. They understand that you are young and have not had much experience, so just write on the resume what you have done. Babysitting, yard work, odds and ends jobs, volunteering, special classes in school such as parenting or early child development for a daycare job, or what you do around the house and yard at home as chores for a housecleaning job (just use your parent's name as the employer, even if you don't get allowence) or computer classes and training are always good on a resume or application. Pretty much, all you have right now is your chores, school, any volunteering you've done, and watching the Miller's 4 screaming brats. All those teach you traits that can be used in a job. Let's see, you've had to budget time to get your chores done, homework finished and still have time for friends or sports or whatever. You have "sanitation skills" from cleaning the dishes properly, changing out the trash, and cleaning the bathroom. Possibly meal preparation for the kids, problem solving for when the kids trash the house or beat eachother up. You're present and on time most of the time at school, that shows you are reliable, and punctual.
Action words: Problem solving skills, familiar with general sanatation techniques, slight meal preparation, time management, problem solving, punctual, reliable, dependable, responsible, ect. Think of something that makes you look good, and then make it sound "business appropriate" and promote the he.ll out of yourself

I know what you mean about fast food. I wouldn't touch it as a teenager either. I am now 40, so I hope you believe that I am talking from experience.

1. If there is a job you think is cool, walk in and ask to fill out an application. They can get you in at the lowest level position, and you can learn while you make money.

2. Do you have a problem with working at a grocery store? I would strongly recommend it. My uncle started by sacking groceries at 15, and is now the vice president, and makes BIG bucks. You learn everything from customer service to merchandising to cashiering, which all look good on a resume.

3. My first job was at a movie theater. What do you like to do? Consider your favorite pastimes and look for jobs where you can do what you like, or at least get a good discount on the things you like to buy.

4. As far as your "resume", most kids only need to fill out applications when they look for a job. ALWAYS be honest. Don't lie. It could get you fired if they find out they hired you based on dishonesty.

5. Employers know that when you are looking for your first job, you don't have any experience....so leaving the "past job history" part blank is okay.....When they see that you are interested in their company and working for them, they will want to give you a chance.

I lied about experience as a kid to get a secretarial job, and you should have seen what a fool I looked like when I couldn't do anything at my desk!

ALSO...if you want an office job, go to Kelly or Manpower Services. They can place you for a few weeks in a temporary job, and if you like it and they like you, they might hire you permanently. This is a great way to find out what you like to do, and try lots of different jobs.

Good luck!

As a recruitment consultant here's some advice, use your summer holidays to get some work experience. Ask someone in your family if their office needs some back-logged filing done. Offer to do it free of charge for two weeks (even if its only a few hours a day). You'll have something to put on your CV and experience in an office which looks great. Alternately, if office work is not for you find something you love. Music, for example, and in your cv, under interests display a bit of your knowledge. When you go for the interview, research the company and speak knowledgably about their products and show a willingness to learn what you don't know. Good luck!

Malls are usually great places for teens to work. The managers understand that you don't have any experience, but they expect you to be responsible and competent. If you have no previous experience, don't lie just say you don't...I'm sure they don't expect you to. If there's an area for you to write in your interests or activities list things that you've done in school. For example if you play a sport or are in a club. This shows that you're a team player.

As long as you can be taught to use a cash register or fold clothes or straighten shelves, you're fine...just get to work on time and don't call out too often and you'll find that your measly pay check is more than enough to support the social life of someone your age!!!

Your a teen and jobs will be fast food or retail for the most part. You cant be picky or you wont be hired. You spent most of your post saying what you "cant" do! With no work background your choices are few. Most teens start in fast food or retail and from that they learn about working world go for it. Now on to your resume. Of course you have no work background but you still have background. Have you dont any volunteer work? Have you helped anyone with anything in past? Have you been to any seminars? Have you babysat? Worked as camp counselor the list goes on. Anything you have done can go on resume you dont ahve to be paid for it. You can also go to sites like hotjobs and monster.com they have tools to help you build a resume

I would say that your best bet if you want to work at the all is at clothing stores or book stores, go around and see where you would enjoy the most. Target, and Barnes and Noble are good starters. No dont lie on your resume that will be something your regret especially if they find out because then on your next applications they will want to know if you have lied on previous applications.

You have to be honest. If you are smart mature and work hard fast food isn't that bad. I started at Mickey D's when I was 15 and was a Shift manager by 17! I made more money than all my friends!

no dont lie.
why not a fast food store? i know that McDonalds offers the best promotions to their staff some of them started out frying fries, today their MD's all over the world, some even own their own stores.
seing you dont want to do that, why dont you go to a corporate business and ask if you can do your app there? i suggest you only do it in the field you are going to study in, good luck ms choosy but remember you cannot get to the top without having started at the bottom.

Resume's are for people who are out in the work force with experience / specific schooling...etc. You should only be filing out applications...and never lie on one...it may come back to haunt you.
