Do you think that Bill Cower should've waited a few more games to put him in as starting QB, or do you think he made the right choice.

Ben's case is a total catch 22. He has to play for 2 reasons.
One - if he doesn't get out there his confidence in himself will be shook - it already is. He's throwing picks left and right, he's scared in the pocket, and he's not reading correctly. He's not scared of the game, but he's scared of his own body. He's got to overcome that if he expects to be effective for the Steelers. So he's got to play for himself or he'll never be any good.
Second - if he doesn't play Bill Cower may find another quarterback. Don't forget Rothlisberger got the job with Tommy Maddox got his brains knocked out, and Maddox was a good quarterback - Ben was better. Also, Charlie Batch won the first game and played like an all star. I'm sure it scared the hell out of Ben cause he may have lost his job if he didn't come back and show he's tough. Bottom line is if Ben doesn't play, coach may find a better QB, so again, Ben has to play.
I think he's going to improve as the season goes on, but he should've recovered for another 2-3 weeks. Steelers will make the playoffs but the line has to get better, Ben has to get comfortable and the defense has to keep doing it's thing.

It's a combination of things. In the Jax game the line gave him no protection at all. The Cinci game, he had time to throw but he just not making the right decisions. The problem with the offense this year is no one has stepped up as a leader (a role which was clearly Bettis' in the past). Unless Ben decides to step up and lead his team it's gonna be a long (or should I say short) season. The defense is doing it's job. They may have given up some points but considering how long they've been on the field the first few weeks they're still impressive. The offense needs to control the ball more or the defense is not gonna last. Don't worry though, Cowher usually turns the momentum after a bye week. Just remember, a wounded animal is always most dangerous when it's back is against the wall. We ain't done yet!!!

I agree with the call to let Ben play in the Jax game. The Bengal game was much more important and everyone knew he would be "rusty"

Now the Bengal game was a different story. Turnovers killed them. Ben did show some improvement since the Jax game, but he still has a long way to go.

He'll be back to his old self no later than the KC game. This bye week couldn't have come at a better time. He'll look over the film and see what he did wrong. Don't worry, the Steelers are still in this season.

Big Ben, so overrated. He had the record for lowest QB rating EVER by a superbowl winning QB. He lost the lowest scoring MNF game EVER. His own coach has been quoted as saying that the more Ben has to throw, the less of a chance we have to win (when comparing him to Vick). please, he isnt that banged up, 5 INTs O TDs, Chris Simms played better with a ruptured spleen.

ben should have not started the jax game.
hes just adjusting.
course im sure SD is not going to make him look good.

I answered this question before reading everyone elses opinion.
Have you guys no faith?
geez one bad game does not mean a someone stinks.
jax is a tough team, cinn will not want to win another game more than it did last sunday.
if ben play HORRIBLE against SD while going through a bye week then we can allow those thoughts into our heads.
geez, give the guy a break.

Ben should have waited until he was fully healed instead of trying to make a point. Now his recuperation may be longer. Not only that it brings his stats down. He prolly fears it'll be a Drew Bledsoe/Tom Brady situation if he doesn't get out there. He needs to get healthy.

I think he peaked in his career early. Unless the steelers go to a more experienced QB they are going to find themselves with more losses then wins this season.

Sorry probably not this season. He will be better towards the end though. When it's to late! That accident then his surgery really screwed him up.

I lost all respect for him, not because of the trade, but because of his deal...what a joke! I hope he plays like crap the rest of his career, and I can't wait to watch Chi vs. Det
