Undergrad degree fulfilling all the requirements to apply to med school (hard science, such as biology/chemistry/physics)-4+ years

Med school-4 years

Residency-3-4 years

Fellowship-1 year

Total: 12+ years.

Oh yeah, lots of big, expensive and important standardized, national and state tests along the way, some that test for up to four eight hour days straight.
