the only way to improve an iq level is to set puzzles that are appropiate or slightly harder than the age of your child,
like everything else if you work at it , the better and more honed it becomes..
good luck but dont get to pushy with the kid as that has the opposite effect

It depends on the age of the child. Reading, asking and explaining the things the child's sees in their daily life, kids always want to know WHY. Puzzles of any sorts to tax their thoughts, it makes them think of HOW. Ask them WHAT they think. ADD to their math skills by simple counting tricks. Show them the globe so they know WHERE they are and where they might go. Play spelling games, very good for thought patterns. Children like to learn.

The only scientifically proven method is to READ lots and lots of books to him/her from a variety of genres and levels. May I suggest that you read Jim Trelease's book The New Read Aloud Handbook that gives speicifics on his research and lots of excellent book suggestions for MANY different age groups.

Breast feed him and let him play in the dirt with other children. If you don't he will develop asthma from a too sterile environment and be a geek.
