I've often pondered the answer to that question myself. You'd think that they wouldn't really give a crap about some dirtbag murderer or rapist, but for some convoluted reason, they still do. And they swab the injection site with one of those little alcohol pads too. I'm not 100% certain, but I think they actually sedate the inmate before they shoot him up with the stuff that kills him, so he doesn't suffer so much when the drug is stopping his heart and shutting his body down. The guy didn't care how much pain his victims felt when he was killing or raping them, so why the hell should the system care how much pain he's in when his death sentence is finally carried out????? After 10 or so years of appeals and him trying to get out of prison??? I think that's a bunch of crap.

most probably to adhere to health laws. Also there might be a possibility the person administering the lethal injection may accidently be struck by the needle, if the needle has a virus (not in the contents, but on the tip) that person may get that virus...

They come sterilized. Prepackaged. Maybe they should save money and start using old needles they find on the streets.

Does this question ALWAYS have to come up every month like clockwork?

Because we're human and compassionate and we will treat that person as human, even though his actions would argue differently.
