Uh, oh. YOU don't have to make anything. Your CHILD has an assignment. I would suggest that you ask the teacher for guidelines to ASSIST your child. If the teacher sent home the assignment for a project there must be written guidelines in a newletter or on an assignment sheet. Check your child's book bag or send a note to the teacher asking for examples.

It seems this is a recycling project. Think of ways you already use containers from products at home. Perhaps you can help your child make it a bit fancier for the school project. FOR EXAMPLE: A large soup can can be covered with contact paper (make sure to cover the cut edges too) and used for a pencil holder. A rinsed milk container may be made into a bird feeder. Persue ideas like this and GUIDE your child in completing this assignment.

It will not only give you quality time together, but it will also ensure that your child gets benefit from this extended learning experience (which is what homework is!) S/he also needs to be able to explain how the project was completed using time ordered words (first, second, next, then, etc., and finally, or last.) as any good teacher will probably use this assignment to assess verbal skills through an oral presentation.
Good luck. Enjoy this learning experience with your child.
