a couple of months ago i took a pap smear and the results indicated that my cells were very abnormal, so they said i had moderate dysplasia! i then had to get a biopsy to diagnose this... when the biopsy results came back... the doctor said my cells were still abnormal, but not as abnormal as before, so now i have to get another pap test! could it be that my cells are returning to normal on their own.... what is going on?

Yea, your body could be curing itself. HPV causes irregular cells on the cervix but, most strains of the virus are not harmful and cure themselves. Only a few cause cervical cancer or genital warts and that's why paps are important. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and to get more information about your particular case.

i had the same thing but when i got my biopsy results they were CIN 3 which is the stage before they turn into cancer cells by the sounds of it you have CIN 1 which will heal its self but they will keep checking. the virus can be caught due to having different partners and 1 will carry it in my case i had been with my partner for 4 years at the time and when i got tested i did not have the virus which meant that it was from a partner previous ( before i meet my husband ) as me being a naughty girl did not get a pap smear for years now i have to go every 6 months i know that it is really scary but it is not cancer so don't stress even CIN 3 in not cancer i had it removed which was painless they don't cut they go up the other way lol and i have had 3 cleared smears since very easily treated i hope i could be of some help.

You probably have HPV. It's really very common. Sometimes it does clear on it's own, other times you may have to have the cells removed by laser surgery. No worries, you'll be fine. But by all means, get it taken care of. There's been alot of talk about how some forms of HPV can cause cervical cancer. I'm not trying to scare you or say that you have cancer, I'm just saying don't let it go and make sure you follow your dr.'s advice. If HPV is what you have, (it may not be) just take care of it.
Take Care and good luck!

Sure they can. Your body can heal itself. I Had the same thing for three years and did nothing except go back every six months, my last two have been fine.
