i have seen one homeschooling extremity.....the child had never left his mother's side even to go potty & he was 8!!!!!
yet i have seen many excellent examples of TEENS loving it, and younger kids too....have seen 16 year olds graduating high school homeschool and achieving their associates degree by the age of 18.
some very responsible young adults come from homeschooling.
yet, in most cases their is no government control on homeschools...if their is something "mentally challenged" about the parnets, they can still homeschool their children....

*their is also an argument on socialization....most home schooled kid's parent are members of homeschooling groups, use the YMCA for activities, & go to church at least 2 times a week.... these kids are around kids their age 4 days out of every 7 day week

If you do it right I think it is the greatest thing! I attended a homeschool workshop mostly to see what was WRONG with it because I thought about it from time to time. Well, I fell in love. You have to have a plan and understand the city and school city laws. Some people are concerned about socialization and standardized testing, well, many states mandate that homeschooled children are entitled to attend gym classes and take tests. You've just gotta be very well informed, well read, organized and proactive if you're going to homeschool. I have two friends who started homeschooling when their sons were in HIGH SCHOOL! Both had younger children and one went on to start a "homeschooling service" ~ she has about a dozen students. She was a fed up school teacher. But most homeschoolers I've met are just moms (many with degrees, some without) who want that for their children. I really know it is a GREAT THING! That's my opinion.

I wouldn't choose it for my kid, for several reasons.
First - kids need to be among other kids. This helps socialize them, and get them ready to be out in society when they are older. It also helps them to become more independent persons. The one you cite is an extreme version of a dependent kid.
Second, while I'm not a fan of government control, I do appreciate standards imposed by government, such as certain skills required to become a teacher. The teacher must have some level of skills in the subjects they teach, as well as in methods of teaching. I for one know that I don't have the ability to spend 6-8 hours a day teaching my child english, math, social studies, science, and other subjects. If others have the skills, and the patience, fine. But this isn't the path I would take.

I had 2 in public college and a pair of in homeschooling. My husband grow to be completely against the assumption till he met a guy at artwork that had a spouse that homeschooled and thought it grow to be a great thank you to knowledgeable their toddlers. human beings think of we positioned the youngsters in a tumbler bubble and that they by no skill mingle with society. that's so a strategies from the actuality its ridiculous yet public college gadget would not prefer to lose that funds they get with greater suitable little ones. even in spite of the indisputable fact that the youngsters they finally end up slightly be attentive to the thank you to envision and basically learn issues that the line little ones are doing; like they say they're attempting to renounce bullying or drug site visitors yet you hold little ones mutually in a gadget like that and that they locate basic approaches to do the two in spite of all their exams and balances. On suited of that the generic public college society is godless devoid of ethical back up and frightened of regulation fits in the event that they positioned a bandaid on a toddler for a cut back on their leg or if a toddler has some tylenol of their handbag for a headache its suspension time. they're loopy accessible!! a minimum of homeschooled little ones have uncomplicated sense and can reason out issues greater advantageous than their opposite numbers. Like I informed my husband final month, our son now has a Bachelor's degree now and our daughter has a great activity interior the corporation international the final 2 years and no person is even going to care the place they went to college, its what they do interior the now that counts.

I think that homeschool is a good thing, as long as parents socialize their kids properly. For example , i knew a kid whose mother never let him go outside, so would play with him through his door, he turned out to be a drugg addicted jerk. I work with these two girl, that were homeschooled who are perfectly fine in careers. There is nothing wrong with homeschooling because the kid learns at their own pace.

I love the idea.....My kids love going to public school but they are young. I hope to change their minds before they get in JR high. They will have friends they do now. The ones that live around here...Plus they will be near dating age. They can meet people at the mall. I wish someone would have home schooled me. Then we could start our day at 10 am.

I think that it's a good thing because it's more safe than public school. And it's good one on one time for the child to learn and ask all the questions they might have. There is no peer pressure and they don't have to worry about other students making things hard for them I think that if I had the time I would do it.

I wish I was home schooled. Wouldnt it be easier eh.
But like all things it has it cons and pros. No socialization(which isnt exactly right) and at least you can rest assured ur child aint being bullied(cons of proper school).

My sister home schools four kids and they are all really smart. She put them in dance and karate so they can develop social skills and they seem to be doing fine.
