Advantage, it makes noise when you want to hear it, disadvantage, it makes noise when you dont want to hear it!

Try listening to a hi-fi system in a large room or hall without any and you'll find that the music is very hard to hear. Assuming that you're not REALLY taking the p, they're the full sized version of headphones and are used to produce the amplified sound from a variety of sources such as microphones, record, disc and tape players.

disadvantage = you may loss your sense of hearing
