Make sure, first, in the "Volume control", that there's no muted or turned completly down volume controls. Then check your speakers as well as the connection between them and the sound card. If everything's OK, right-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, from the menu that appears select "Properties" and, in the dialog that appears, click the "Device Manager" tab. In the "Device Manager" box, click the plus sign next to the "Sound, video and game controllers". Click your sound card then click the "Remove" button. Click OK then restart your computer.
Now reinstall the drivers that came with your sound card, restart the computer and look again in the "Volume control" to make sure all the sliders are on the maximum position and there's no muted source. If all's OK, you should hear sounds now.

First, if your speakers have an on/off button or volume control, check to see the status.
Check to see if you didn't accidentally loosen a wire or connection.
Then, Right-cl on the speaker button on the system tray and check volume control. and audio properties.
Last but not least, go to the Control Panel. Sound or Audio. Check all tabs and options.
Good luck.
