If you have pitch or tone problems, see a professional voice coach to work on those issues. You can also sing scales to work on those, but again I would recommend a professional. If you just have problems with breath control or power in your voice, lay on the ground and breath deeply. Do you see your abdomen rising and falling? If not, you're breathing from your lungs, which means you're singing from your throat. Sing from your diaphram, begin standing up with your hand either on your abdomen to feel your breathing or in front of your mouth (you should feel air blowing on your hand). Unfortunately, with all of this you may only be a decent singer. Singing is one of those things that at some point really is a talent. I pray it's one of yours, since you want it so bad. Best of luck!

my suggestion would be join some type of local choir if you like choral music... you didnt specify the type of music... i am a church organist.. and play for choirs, and EVERYONE ... CAN sing... most people are just trying to sing the wrong parts.. you may be an alto (lower part for women) and are trying to sing the melody (soprano) part which is too high... It is a fact that everyone can sing .. all you have to do is find the range your voice is comfortable singing... so if you are religious, go to a local church and sing in the choir. almost all choirs accept everyone..and there you can learn by blending your voice with everyone else's....... just a suggestion... if you are not religious look into loca choral groups that sing popular music... or find a local pianist who maybe can help you out....

You can do some vocal training techniques, you'll probably get them online if you didnt want to get lessons.
But you could possibly look into playing an instrument instead of singing.
