I hear a lot of people griping that the rich get tax cuts. What about the fact that those making $40,000 or less are only paying about 3%, and the rich pay a higher percentage? Do you know how much YOU paid in taxes?

Tax cuts have to go to the rich(anyone who makes enough money to have the privilege of paying taxes), the poor don't pay taxes.

There is a fundamental question that has to be asked before your question can be even approached.

Is someone rich based on true merit and the fruits of their labor, ingenuity etc..? If you look at the US Census, approximately 98% of the wealthy were born to, politically connected to or married money. Only 2% of the wealthy were "self made"; this is why the 2% is paraded before us through the media constantly. Typically in the form of sports stars, movie stars and people like Bill Gates and Co. There is this illusion out there that hard work and dedication is the ticket; the Mexican got more of that than any CEO out there, they're not getting rich.

The other thing you have to look at is the US corporate welfare system. So if you forced big pharmaceutical companies to bear the entire burden for R&D (currently taxpayers are paying 50% of that tab); the amount of millionares from big pharma would almost vanish. The other component of wealth is the dominance of the planet by the US military which is a massive subsidy that rigs foreign markets for exploitation by US corporations

So the wealthy in this country have this massive, lethal welfare system in place that keeps them wealthy. The subject of taxing them likes the Swedes all of a sudden becomes more appealing

I'm all for tax cuts for the rich. It may just be a coincidence, but I never had a poor person give me a job.

ur idea of rich isnt high enough i think ... it appears to me that the idea is to repress the middle class ... the poor arnt a threat to the ultra-rich who hold the reins of power and neither are their fellows ... just the well to do middle class has the means and the will to change things ... so tax the bejeezus out of them.

Great Point, It's wrong to charge those who make more money higher taxes. "Oh, you succeded in life, and made something of yourself, so let's rape you with taxes" It doesn't make sense, it hurts work ethic in America and strips away the will to succeed in life. Personally I believe in a flat tax rate. It's fair for everybody, and let's pray it's a small tax rate at that.
