It's actually "young girl with eyes like the desert". But you know, I always sing your line instead too - always have, always will. It sounds so much better.

No, it is not potatoes, the lyrics go:

"Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away"

I don't know where you get eyes like potatoes from. As you can see, it's actually, "A young girl with eyes like the desert".

I suppose they mean hot and full of sand? :)

(spoken:)

Como puede ser verdad
How could it be true?

Last night I dreamt of san pedro
Just like Id never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

Chorus:

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your spanish lullaby

The beautiful island

I fell in love with san pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me
Te dijo te amo
I prayed that the days would last
They went so fast

He told you, I love you

(chorus)

I want to be where the sun warms the sky
When its time for siesta you can watch them go by
Beautiful faces, no cares in this world
Where a girl loves a boy, and a boy loves a girl

Last night I dreamt of san pedro
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

(chorus twice)

La la la la la la la
Te dijo te amo
La la la la la la la
El dijo que te ama

He told you, I love you

He said he loves you

If it's any help to your ego, although I knew it sounded like potatoes I guessed it wasn't but I had no idea what she was actually singing. It surely doesn't sound like the desert. She would do well to spend some of her money on elocution lessons!

I think your interpretation of the lyrics is better. I also thought that Queen sang 'Spare him his life from the pork sausages' in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Perhaps Madge could sample Queen on her next single and create ideas for simple yet filling mealtimes? Who needs Jamie or Delia when you have Madge and Queen? All we need now is some gravy.......

AHHAHAHH! That's a riot. My best friend always messes up lyrics to songs, with hilarious results. For example, she thought "Gin & Juice" was "canon juice". She comes up w/ some good ones. I say "Eyes like potatoes" ranks up there!!!!

Potatoes have eyes, much like young girls do. So the phrase makes perfect sense.

I have no idea but with Madonna it is no telling. She is so far out there sometimes, you never know what she is going to say or do.
