ive got a 5g ipod, and ive done pretty well taking care of it. Ive came up with alternative cases and skins. One case was made out of an old cassette case, which was ok for like a day. then i used some adhesive that has like patters, and i still use it since its not bulking up my ipod. But i need a change, does anyone know what other alternatives or homemade things i can use for my 5g ipod. Its not fair the nano and shuffle can fit into an altoids case or and orbit gum case!!!

I have purchased several skins and leather cases for my ipod and i was not satisfied with any of them until, I went to a second hand store and accidently found a rectangular soft leather case for glasses. It cost $1.00. One of the flat sides has solid metal reinforcement within the case cover. I think a car can run it over and still be OK. My 20g ipod fits perfectly, its light weight and there is enough room to tuck in my earphones, which used to get tangled in my bag.

I went to a fabric store and dug through the remnants bin .
I found some great material for my 60g (which all the cases for are ...well icky)
I folded the material and stiched up two sides (side and bottom)...instant case. You can make them any size you want too so they will fit earphones.
the cost was only a couple bucks for a few different patterns and textures.

also cell phone cases work
