Unfortunately, yes. Because the only way to know you have no memory of an event is for someone else to bring it up. And if someone else remembers it, then it must have happened. For example, I don't remember my birth, yet I am here, typing this answer, so therefore I must have been born, even though I don't remember it, it happened. Of course, if no one has any memory of an event, then there no way to know if you have no memory of it or not.

Sometimes people can confuse past memories, believing they have happened, by linking some events together. Most likely, they wish in their minds that the linking of the events is the way THEY would have wanted it to turn out.
Having no memory of an event happens often in child abuse cases and different types of trauma, that others KNOW has existed.

Yes. Your memory has no influence on an already executed event.

of course it happened. it doesn't matter if u remember it or not. the truth is, it happened. maybe for the person who forgets it for some reason, he/she couldn't say that it happened but for the fact that there was an incident, it's been recorded from the past..
we can't undo a single act we performed nor we can erase a single word we've said..

off-course, our lives are virtual, our memory too. things are happening all the time, sometimes we don't notice sometimes we don't pay attention. the best part is that we can erase things from our minds and the bad part is that sometimes we miss wonderful things by noticing other things, such as.... this yahoo answers
