I'm a reporter for a local newspaper. If you are writing for school write something like human interest stories or your personal opinion on entertainment. Find stories in your area that people would be interested in!

Write about something you know. You're answering a lot of questions here. Pick a topic that affects you and your peers and write about it.
Write about a positive activity there is to do in your town and if it is something like a movie or bowling go to the local place of business and interview the manager. Ask about a discount or something for students if there isn't already one in place.
Write about the summer. Interview people about their summer adventures.

write about whats happening to the world and why the weather is the way it is and if we dont start being better to the environment in 10 years we will be dead - tidal waves, tornadoes etc will ruin all of us - this is serious! - check out Al Gore and his interviews.
The young are the future leaders and we need to make a stand now - or maybe it is already too late
