It has a roundish type of fruit or nut. The shell is splitting and inside is a brown nut looking thing a little smaller than a golf ball. Inside this nut type exterior is a green substance like the inside of an apple only harder no distinct odor. The leaves are turning yellow and the nut type things are falling out of their shells. The tree is not very large and the fruit almost seem heavy for the plant. Does anyone know what this is?

Sounds like walnut to me but without seeing it I can't be sure. It might also be a sycamore.

Most likely it's a form of Hickory or Walnut. If you have other trees living in close proximity, it's probably Hickory since the most common Walnut (Black Walnut) emits a chemical from it's roots that kills off other trees. But the nut size sounds like a Walnut.

Take a digital pic of the tree, leaves and fruit. Put them on some free pic share server and add the link to them here, so that people can see what is it.
