Depends on how big the tsunami is doesn't it! Just above the maximum reach of the wave I'd say would be best - you get the thrill of watching it without getting caught up in it.
Contrary to one answer the UK does get tsunamis - it's just that we haven't had one lately. there was a big one several hundred years ago which swept up the Bristol Channel and inundated Somerset and other low lying areas. It was probably the result of an undersea earthquake SW of Ireland.
There were also one or two BIG ones a few thousand years ago which swept over the east coast of Scotland as a result of major underwater slides off the Norwegian coast - masses of unstable sediment left after the last Ice Age decided to take a trip downhill and caused 20m high waves to crash into Shetland, Iceland and other pieces of land in their path.
We probably won't get one in our lifetime in the UK but there will be more - that's a near certainty!

Not Brighton; a earthquake thre is very unlikley; there are faults in the english channel, (it is actaully a rift valley and is slowly pushing England away from France) but if an earthquake with a tsunami did accour, I'd go out to sea; or goto the top of the south downs, nice view of the wall of water, and you are way to high to be affected; tsunamis only really affect low lying areas; so the rest f the UK excluding the extreme South Coast of England would be able to carry on as normal.

Yor probably don't need to run that far. The tsunami in the Indian Ocean swept a few miles inland so as long as you're a good distance from the sea then you should be fine.

Dartmoore. Up North we should be OK because we're already quite a way above sea level.
