I live in Central Florida and the humidity is high and the heat index can be very high as well. I also want to make sure that the turf is strong.

A slow release lawn fertilizer ( sulphur coated urea ) with Iron - makes it green, with evenly balanced numbers would be good. If you feel the sod is weak, use an application of "turf builder" with a high last number ro feed the roots first. Wait an month or so and follow up with the above slow release.
Do note the iron - that is what makes the grass green not the nitrogen - nitrogen promotes green or top growth.

Scott's Southern Turf Builder. I work at Home Depot in Texas and we sell a LOT of that stuff!

Calcium Nitrate, the Norwegian one is the best, in my opinion.
